Exterior and Design

The Jeep Compass retains many of the distinctive stylings of Jeep SUVs, with a genuinely rugged appearance that tells of the power it contains. However, the Compass is one of the more streamlined and driveway-friendly models in the automaker's range, blending sturdy SUV confidence with modern curves and angles for a stylish overall impression.

Under the Hood

Every model in the 2021 Compass lineup is built around the same powerful engine. A 2.4L four-cylinder gas mill makes a healthy 180 horsepower and 175lb-ft, plenty enough output to propel a car of the Compass's compact dimensions with verve and agility.   At the base level, the Compass passes the power through a six-speed automatic transmission to front-wheel drive. However, all other trims offer a more off-road friendly configuration with a nine-speed automatic transmission driving all-wheel drive as standard.

Handling & Infotainment

The all-wheel drive models of the 2021 Compass are also fitted with Jeep's advanced Selec-Terrain system which automatically optimizes traction for all four wheels individually, hugely improving handling over difficult terrain to make the Compass a genuine off-road contender.   The Compass is also well-equipped with infotainment technology in the spacious cabin. Touchscreen displays are fitted to every model, with a 7" design at the entry level and 8.4" in all other trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide seamless smartphone integration, while comprehensive navigation is available as an in-built option.   As standard, the Compass is fitted with a six-speaker sound system. However, audio purists can upgrade to a premium nine-speaker Alpine rig on the higher trims.

The new 2021 model sees the Compass's suite of safety features greatly expanded and enhanced. Key standard and available systems include:
